Although
Liverpool manager Arne Slot saw his first team squad come out of our Premier League clash with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park with injuries to both Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker and Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, fans actually had more reasons to celebrate on Saturday than they probably first realised.
A Young Debut
In taking the 1-0 victory in the weekend's early kick off as Diogo Jota decided the tie nine minutes into the first half, we also saw a short debut for 23 year old Vitezslav Jaros, and with us making it nine wins from Slot's opening ten matches, we go into the November international break with the tiniest of advantages at the top of the PL table.
During the small downtime we now have, there will be those fans who take a look at
these betting sites at irishonlinecasino.ie and they may well find something they like to help occupy their time, but everyone will be hoping that when real football returns Slot's hot streak at the table continues.
Away from first team affairs, one of our many out on loan youngsters was enjoying a very good day in the English Championship, as former Derby County starlet Kaide Gordon helped Norwich City to a very comprehensive victory over Hull City whilst helping himself to a first career league goal.
Only A Matter Of Time For Youngster?
The now 20 year old highly rated attacking midfielder featured once as a substitute for The Rams, but we snapped him up in February 2021 and across all competitions he has made four starts, with three substitute showings, returning one goal in the 2022 FA Cup clash against Shrewsbury Town.
Sadly the players development has been held back by a number of injury issues in more recent years, but with him back fit and raring to go, prior to the closure of this summers' transfer window we sent him out to the second tier and Carrow Road for him to more quickly build his game experience.
His first Championship goal for them came in his third substitute showing as he continues to settle into life at the club, and he grabbed their third strike of the afternoon. His performance, and the goal in particular, will be the perfect confidence boost for him as he looks to kick on further and really impress again, as he will be aiming to recapture his form and demonstrate the early potential that we had seen in him.
Injuries Holding Back Talent
With many feeling that had injuries not held him back he would at least be in and around our first team plans by now, that belief naturally comes from the fact that former gaffer Jurgen Klopp had already been slowly introducing him to the side and involving him in training, so his goal at the weekend would have been extra special as it fell on his birthday - and he will be hoping his 20th year is one that gets him fully back on track.
In some ways the November international break is ill timed for the lad as he would undoubtedly want the next game to cycle around quickly so he could continue where he left off, but time out on the training pitch could well be far more beneficial for him in the long term as he looks for some real consistency, and then a run of starting appearances as he makes up for lost time.
There will undoubtedly be a number of fans who are keeping track of his progress, but for those who are not, it will be interesting to see what sort of development curve he has got himself on by the New Year.
