It has been a summer of big change for Liverpool and manager Jurgen Klopp, and as well as a few arrivals to freshen up the first team group, some very well known names have departed and moved on - but despite that upheaval and the numerous issues they have had in the summer transfer market as they sought to strengthen the group, it has been a steady and relatively
consistent start to the 2023/24 Premier League campaign.
Three games into the new season, Liverpool have picked up two wins, a draw and so far, have not suffered a defeat, leaving them in fourth place in the table at this very early part of the year, but it remains to be seen if another fresh face or two will arrive before deadline day rolls around and the window closes again until we tick into the new year and the second half of the season. Given the growth in crypto gambling in recent years, for fans who like tinkering with that sort of thing, Liverpool's start to the season will have given rise to plenty of various odds, and not least with the arrival of the transfer window closure, that in itself will offer plenty of opportunities to gamble with BTC, as there are bound to be some surprising late moves as there always is. For football fans new to crypto gambling,
CCN is a good place to start if you want to look into it.
After a far more disappointing 2022/23 campaign, Liverpool will be looking to kick on again, and former Premier League winner and now pundit, Chris Sutton, feels that our Anfield outfit will more than show that they are back to their best this year, and ultimately prove to be Manchester City's and Pep Guardiola's closest challengers for the title once again.
Speaking recently to BBC Radio Five Live's the Monday Night Club, Sutton explained that he felt the 2-1 victory over Newcastle United last Sunday - as we completed a very good turnaround despite being down to ten men following
Virgil van Dijk's straight red card - was a 'major statement' to the rest of the league about our intentions this year.
"They are probably the ones who I think can push Manchester City the most. I think in terms of, they went down to 10 men against Bournemouth last week and saw them off pretty well, but to do it at Newcastle - I thought that was a major statement. I still think City will win the Premier League, but Liverpool needed that yesterday and will go from strength to strength - if they can keep hold of Mohamed Salah."
Salah continues to be the subject of huge speculation when it comes to his future, and he is being constantly linked with potential moves to Saudi Arabia given their emergence this summer as a rich destination for Premier League and other domestic European league players (who let us face it are simply looking for a final pay day).
Klopp insists our Egyptian wizard is not for sale and will not be moving ahead of the deadline window slamming shut, but of course, their own window remains open for longer, so right now there are concerns a bid we cannot turn down might come in.
Having joined from Roma back in 2017,
Salah has gone on to score 187 goals in 308 games for us, and Sutton believes, that if all our attackers stay fit, we have the most potent front line in the league this season.
"If you look at Liverpool's frontline and the fact they can leave Jota (and Nunez) on the bench, that's a formidable frontline. It's hard to think of another team in the Premier League who have that strength in depth. Diaz was out for a large part of last season, Jota was out, Salah has always been super reliable. Nunez, it was a strange season, but you saw signs there was a player there. You wonder if the nature of Nunez's goals, with both goals clinically taken, if that will give him the boost and really kick Liverpool on. He's physically strong, he can run, he looks a handful."
On to a resurgent Aston Villa under former Arsenal manager Unai Emery, and another three points would lift spirits even further.
