Jimmy Nicholl transferred to Liverpool

Mr. Tom Watson, the manager of the Liverpool Club, on Thursday secured the signature of James Nicholl, outside wing forward of Middlesbrough. Mr. Watson journeyed up North to complete the deal on Wednesday, and he was in a position to inform his directors Thursday that he had secured Nicholl’s transfer. The new man will play against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

The capture is a most important one. As Nicholl did not play in the Cup tie for the Teesiders he will be available to appear for Liverpool against Gillingham. Nicholl is speedy, well built, and can centre well. Since Tinsley joined the Borough, Cook gained the outside left berth, and Nicholl has not been able to regain his place in the team. Born at Port Glasgow, Nicholl can play on either wing, and he stands 5ft. 8in. in height, and weighs 11st. 8lb. He is 24 years of age.
