Liverpool Faces Tough Test Against In-Form Everton

Football fans in Liverpool are hyping themselves up for a match that divides the city. The Merseyside Derby is going to be played on 12 February at Goodison Park as a match that was originally postponed. It will be an interesting match between two rivaling teams, both currently riding unbeaten runs.

Everton, on a 3-game unbeaten run in the league, has recently defeated Brighton and Leicester City, showing just how much they’ve evolved under David Moyes.

Meanwhile, Liverpool lead both the Premier League with a 19-match unbeaten streak. While historically, Liverpool may have been the better side when it comes to playing against the Toffees, this time, the stakes are high for both clubs.

Key Match Details

The match that was originally scheduled for 7 December had to be postponed due to safety issues. Fears rose due to Storm Darragh, which threatened to endanger the safety of all the participants. Also, it could have potentially shaped the picture on the pitch, with postponement being a good idea.

While most think that this would have favored Liverpool, the Toffees are the ones that benefit the most from this change. They were in very bad form under now former manager Sean Dyche at the moment. Now, they will welcome their fiercest rivals in much better shape and form.

Bournemouth's Resilience

Recent performances from Everton have been nothing but impressive. Being down up to ten players on some matchdays lately and not losing has indeed spoken about the depth they boast, probably also of tactical sense their coaching staff may be able to avail themselves. Everton’s ability to adapt and overcome adversity has been a hallmark of their season so far, particularly after the comeback of David Moyes.

The Toffees have strung three wins in a row for the first time this season and are currently nine points away from the relegation zone. They even managed to defeat the likes of Tottenham 3-2 and Brighton 1-0. In their last outing, they defeated Leicester City at home by 4-0 with Beto grabbing a brace.

Liverpool's Dominance

Liverpool has maintained their winning streak which scratches out for the better part of the season. The Reds have only lost a single game in the Premier League this season and are undefeated 19 consecutive matches. They top the Premier League giving them an edge over Everton.

Also, historically, they have had the better of Everton, beating them four times in their last six outings. However, Everton was the one that took the very last game between the two, beating Liverpool by 2-0 in April last year.

Even though anything can happen in football, the past means absolutely nothing to what can actually take place. Liverpool under Arne Slot are a team to be feared. They have scored 56 goals this season and have a +35 goal tally. They are highly motivated to get another win and if Mo Salah keeps playing as of late, we expect an easy victory for Liverpool.
