Liverpool Reportedly Make Salah Contract Breakthrough

Arne Slot's start to life at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp's replacement could not really have gone any better, as Liverpool are heading towards the New Year comfortably sat in top spot in the Premier League table and we are also top of the pile in the newly revamped Champions League format.

There is plenty of football left to play in the 2024/25 campaign though, but confidence is high and our performance levels are very impressive, and if recent news reports are to be believed, we are about to have another good boost in the shape of a new contract for Egyptian wizard Mohamed Salah. With the amazing odds on sites like Bet365 UK, punters are seldom shy about backing the side with a wager and the incredible odds will only continue if Liverpool do secure Salah's more immediate future.

As fans will know Salah, as well as Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, were set to see their contracts expire at the end of the year and we had already fought off strong interest from the Saudi Arabian Pro League for the 32 year old's services and it was fully expected that they would return for him, if we were unable to secure him to a new deal.

Salah complicated matters a few weeks back as he put pressure on the board, stating that despite ongoing discussions no firm deal had yet been placed on the table and it seems that going to the press may have worked out for him, as reports over the weekend were claiming that both sides had now agreed upon a compromise deal and that his future would remain with us for at least the next two years.

It is believed that Salah's agent Rammy Abbas had been arguing for a three year deal, but our Fenway Sports Group owners did only want to offer a 12 month extension, but in meeting in the middle it is believed he will shortly sign a new 24 month contract that will see him remain as our highest earner, although the expectation is his wage will continue at its current level as the money understandably was not the issue here.

With concerned fans making their thoughts known following Salah's comments in the press, they will be delighted to hear that he is now more back in than out, and they will simply be hoping that his current form levels and goalscoring touch continue now this distraction has presumably been dealt with - not that it had proven to be much of a distraction for him so far anyway this season.

With Salah's future now sorted if the reports prove to be true, we will have to see if there is any firm movement on Van Dijk's contract given the earlier speculation about a new potential deal also being close for the former Celtic man, but I think everyone is unfortunately resigned to the fact that TAA will now be moving on at the end of the campaign, although plenty will be hoping that we can pull a rabbit out of a hat on that one as well.

Hopefully the news will be confirmed early in the week and then it is all eyes back to keeping our current fixture form going.
