Mac Allister Expects Argentine Action Despite Liverpool Substitution

With new Liverpool manager Arne Slot continuing his fantastic start to life at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp's replacement with another three points from this weekend's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, fans will know that we came out with two fresh injury concerns in the shape of goalkeeper Alisson Becker and midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.

A Great Start All Round

Whilst fans will naturally be celebrating nine wins in ten games with our only hiccup so far coming in the clash with Nottingham Forest, it will be interesting to see how long we can keep this form going.  And obviously there are plenty of
decent betting sites and new bookmakers to check out the odds on the forthcoming clashes throughout the season.

Few knew what to really expect from our new boss as he arrived from Dutch Eredivisie side Feyenoord so early season odds from decent betting sites and new bookmakers would have been favourable, particularly now that expectations are rising given our performances, and we already find ourselves through to the next stage of the League Cup, and we have two wins from two in the Champions League.

With 32 year old Brazilian stopper Alisson going off with just over ten minutes remaining in the game with what appeared to be another hamstring problem, Slot confirmed that he was now likely out for the next few weeks and that he did not expect him to return to contention for the first game back after November's international break, so it is safe to say he will not be travelling for action himself now.

Nothing To Worry About Injury Wise

As for 25 year old Mac Allister, the news is slightly better there following his substitution at the half time break as the gaffer confirmed that in many ways it was more a precautionary move, as although he could have continued to play on, nobody wanted to risk making whatever his actual groin issue was any worse.

In terms of turning up for international duty, Slot admitted that at the time of speaking he had no idea whether or not the player would be travelling for Argentinian duty as they were still to assess the full extent of the problem.

Speaking a few hours after Slot's post game media duties, Mac Allister himself sounded far more upbeat about his withdrawal from the game, and he stated that he had no intention of missing out on international action and would not be excusing himself from the squad.

The World Cup winner eventually took to social media website Instagram to provide what can only be described as a very loose update having presumably been seen and assessed by the clubs' medical staff.  The player posted that he had felt some 'slight discomfort' during the first half of the game, but moving forward it was not something that would stop him featuring in the international games that are to come.

The International Break

However, whilst it is accepted that he will be travelling for their World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia, it will be down to the national side to assess his condition to play and pass him fit for contention for Lionel Scaloni's side.

You would like to think Argentina would be sensible here and rest him for the first game, and only using him in their second match so he gets that extra bit of time to rest and recover as we certainly do not want to lose him for a period of time given our incredibly small advantage at the top of the table right now.
