Liverpool fans have long known that the 2023/24 Premier League campaign would be manager
Jurgen Klopp's final year in charge, and in more recent weeks the rumour mill talk about who his eventual replacement would be has gone into overdrive and certainly begun dominating the headlines and the news cycles.
Unfortunately for us, in more recent weeks the long campaign, and the many and multiple injuries that we have had to try and work around, looks like it has finally caught up with us and two defeats and a draw in our last five games has left us five points behind current table toppers Arsenal.
The Klopp Dream
The dream of Klopp truly going out on a high and with another domestic league title to his name looks to be largely over, particularly as Pep Guardiola's Manchester City side continue to have a game in hand and all odds at

But with two games remaining, and a confidence boosting, much improved 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday, we could still end the season on a high with our upcoming games against Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Positive results in both games would be the perfect send off for our German gaffer given his achievements at Anfield over the years, and with Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliott all getting themselves on the scoresheet, we will be going into the tie with Unai Emery's overachievers with renewed spirits - not least a good mini eight day break where the players can recover properly.
Alan Shearer View
With results leading to more recent criticism, Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer, has picked out 21 year old attacking midfielder Elliott for particular praise following the Spurs victory and he believes his growing confidence is now allowing him to look 'really comfortable' on the ball.
Klopp has certainly leaned on the Academy graduate this year and across all competitions he has made 51 appearances, albeit he probably hopes he could have had a few more starts in the Premier League itself.
However, that will come in time as he gains greater experience, develops further and has more regular impacts at first team level - and with four goals and eight assists this year, he is more than on track to do just that.
Shearer was also pleased that the Spurs victory had set up a far better end to the season for Klopp, as he knows our gaffer deserves a far better swansong than the one that looked likely given our form over the last four or five weeks. He feels three wins on the spin now, would be the perfect goodbye after everything that he has achieved with us through the seasons.
A Farewell
As for our gaffer's farewell, 'An Evening With Jurgen Klopp & Special Guests' has now been confirmed and it will take place at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool on Tuesday May 28. Fans who get themselves a ticket are likely to enjoy an evening full of good memories, magic moments, anecdotes and music.
After nine years in the hot seat, his final goodbye will be hosted by lifelong fan John Bishop, and performances from the Lightning Seeds, The Zutons and Alfie Boe are already scheduled.
There will also be a 'question and answer' session with Klopp, and that will be hosted by LFCTV's Peter McDowall and a donation from the ticket sales will go to our official charity, LFC Foundation.
