The Merseyside outfit would have loved to have finished in front of rivals Everton, but the Toffees won the bragging rights by finishing seven points and one place above the Reds.
Chelsea were once again the top dogs of women’s football in England. They remained consistent throughout the campaign, failing to win just three of their 22 matches. They finished two points above Manchester United, who were also excellent this season. Arsenal took third and the final UEFA Champions League berth.
After a good year back in the top flight, can Liverpool be competitive at the top of the Super League table next term? The bigger clubs are getting even stronger, but the Reds are certainly capable of mixing it up with the league’s finest.
Right at the start of last season, Liverpool beat champions Chelsea at Prenton Park in Birkenhead. United States ace Katie Stengel was the hero against the Blues, netting both goals in the 2-1 home win.
Liverpool will have to strengthen the squad over the summer, but there have been plenty of positive signs with this current crop of Liverpool stars. Finishing in the top three is the aim for many Super League clubs, and Liverpool could challenge for the Champions League spots next season.
