With three months left in the English Premier League, things are heating up and positions are settling in the table. There are plenty of games left to come, however, and things aren’t set in stone.
Liverpool are currently fighting for a Europa League spot - unfortunately are quite a way behind the Champions League spots. Recent form has been a little inconsistent and we can’t seem to recapture the form that saw us being so dominant in previous seasons.
An upcoming game to watch out for that we really need to win is against Wolves on the 4th of March. If you are interested in placing a few
wager on sportsbook sites while watching this game, we’re going to take a detailed look at the current form of both teams and discuss if we think the Reds will triumph.
Liverpool - Current Form
At the time of writing this, the Reds sit 8th in the table, behind Brighton, and are tied on points with Brentford. There is a decent gap between us and Chelsea and we certainly aren’t out of the picture for European qualification.
Just five points separate us from Newcastle in 5th place and we are only one win behind Fulham too. This means that the match against Wolves is important. It’s one we are expected to win and we definitely need three points to keep us in the running for Europe.
Out of our
last five matches, we have won two, lost two and drawn one, which is a pretty mixed bunch. On the 18th of Feb, we smashed
Newcastle 2-0, which really helped, and we thanked them for getting a man sent off. A win against Everton was also a great result.
The concerning one was the 3-0 defeat at the hand of Wolves on the 4th of Feb. We simply got outplayed and we hope that we don’t see a repeat performance. It seems, however, that Liverpool’s form is improving given these two recent games.
Let’s hope that Champions League fatigue doesn’t set in because, before Wolves, we have to face off against Real Madrid. If Liverpool can pull off a decent result there, then this will certainly raise our spirits for the upcoming matches.
The reality is, we have three “easy” Premier League matches coming up-Crystal Palace, Wolves and Bournemouth, so things are looking a little more positive.
Wolves - Current Form
Wolves are really up and down and it’s hard to put a finger on their league standing and overall potential. One week they play fantastically and thrash us 3-0, then the next week, they
lose to Bournemouth.
They currently sit 15th in the table and are only three points clear of the relegation zone, with Everton and Bournemouth both hot on their heels. Therefore, we can expect them to go all out and try to pull away from the pack.
Their last five games have looked more promising, with three wins and two losses. Also, the 3-0 victory over the Reds will also play into their hands but, hopefully, it will just make our lads hungrier to hand them a crushing defeat and get revenge.
Who Will Win in This Premier League Clash on the 4th?
This one is difficult to call! Obviously, we want the Reds to win and if you go purely on Premier League standings, then we should defeat Wolves. We need this to try and pull away from Brentford and make gains on Newcastle and Spurs.
However, our last encounter, just weeks ago, certainly didn’t go as planned and no one would have predicted that 3-0 defeat. Wolves do appear to be in better form in their recent matches, although the loss to Bournemouth really set them back.
Similarly, Liverpool have been playing better and two wins in a row have really helped. If our Champions League encounter against Real Madrid goes well, then we should be in a good position to take Wolves down and continue our EPL winning streak.
Hopefully, our main players, like Salah and Van Dijk, get a little respite after the Champions League game and aren’t too jaded to put in a good performance against Wolves.
There is a full week between the matches and the coaching staff know what they are doing, so this one should be a win that can pull us closer to European qualification.
Liverpool Should Walk Away With This One
We really hope that the Reds will triumph here and with the current standings, Liverpool are expected to beat Wolves. However, the Premier League is known for its uncertainties and stranger things have happened.
Wolves are not safe from relegation by any means, and they will be fighting for their survival in every game, which means that we could be up for a fun battle on the 4th of March!
