As the late March international break slowly draws to an end, the English Premier League is definitely at the business end of the 2021/22 campaign and as many had expected at the start of the season, it has turned into the two horse race most had predicted with Manchester City and Liverpool only separated by a point as we approach game 30.
The only realistic chaser at this late stage is Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea who are ten points behind Liverpool, but crucially have a game in hand still to play, but with Arsenal and Mikel Arteta sat in fourth place but on 54 points, even their game in hand is unlikely to get them close enough given the more recent form of the three sides above and even then it would take an almighty drop off from the top two.
At the top of the table it could be all change this Saturday as Jurgen Klopp's side face Watford at Anfield in the day's early kick off and notorious battlers Burnley host Pep Guardiola's side at Turf Moor and despite the relative gulf in positional places, with both Watford and Burnley occupying spots in the relegation zone as we head into April - neither game will be a walk in the park for what would be clear favourites Liverpool and Manchester City if you looked at the betting odds on sites like

With only eight games remaining for each side in the domestic league campaign, fans of both sides will be more than fancying their chances given the run in that each side has, but with how close it has often been this year, supporters will be praying that their club colours can take a significant advantage when the return domestic leg takes place at The Etihad Stadium on
April 10th.
Of course, both sides meet again in the FA Cup clash six days later, but nobody will be looking that far ahead. Victory for
City in some ways may guarantee Guardiola another Premier League title as it could mean a four point gap between the rivals, whereas victory for
Liverpool could grant them a much smaller two point advantage if you go with the assumption each side will stay on a winning run of form until they face off against each other for the final time.
Neutral followers of this season's title battle will be hoping that both sides can stay within a point of each other so a decision can be dragged out until the final weekend on May 22 where City host Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa side, and Liverpool welcome outside chance Europa League hopefuls Wolverhampton Wanderers to their ground.
If it does go down to the final round of fixtures, with each game kicking off at the same time at 4pm, you can guarantee fans of other sides will be keeping one eye out for how the race goes, even if it's not their primary concern on that Sunday.
