Top Liverpool F.C. Performances of Recent Years

If you are a football fanatic, you will be familiar with the global success of Liverpool F.C. since their inauguration in 1892 as well as in recent years. If you are interested in finding out more, continue reading to familiarise yourself, in no particular order, with the top Liverpool F.C. performances of recent years.

Liverpool 4-3 Manchester City (January 14, 2018)

As the hotly anticipated match between Liverpool and Manchester City approached, the latter were on the brink of an undefeated season, with betting odds reflecting this trend, and were gearing up to end on a high. The occasion happened to transpire on one of Liverpool’s greatest performances of the season so far, however, as they dominated with a 4-1 lead heading into the second half. Their opponents may have responded appropriately and scored an additional two goals as the match came to a close, but it wasn’t enough to defeat the unstoppable ferocity of Liverpool as they rose to victory with a 4-3 win that is still talked about today.

Tottenham 0-5 Liverpool (December 15, 2013)

As the 2013/2014 season was nearing its central point, Liverpool F.C. annihilated Tottenham, one of their many long-standing rivals, in a celebrated match on the team’s home turf. It was one of the most talked about games during Brendan Rodgers’ controversial reign over the club and remains a solid victory almost a decade on. The final verdict was largely due to the goal scoring abilities of some of Liverpool’s greatest ever players to grace the pitch including Luis Suarez and Jordan Henderson.

Liverpool 5-2 Roma (April 24, 2018)

It may not necessarily be remembered for the right reasons but Liverpool’s defeat over Roma remains one of the club’s most underrated victories, and greatest performances, in recent years. It was the day of the Champions League semi-final, and the Merseyside-based team were leading with a staggering 5-0 lead by the time the match reached its midway point. It may have encouraged Roma to respond with two additional goals, but it was too little too late as Liverpool claimed victory with one of their most impressive results during the course of their tenure so far and paved the way for future players to follow suit.

Liverpool 4-3 Borussia Dortmund (April 14, 2016)

In what was one of Liverpool’s most impressive seasons so far, the night of April 14, 2016 saw them dominate Borussia Dortmund on their home turf. As the second half of the match approached, they were trailing 3-1 and were in desperate need of three goals to allow them to claim a miraculous victory against one of Germany’s most celebrated teams. It was Dejan Lovren and his stoppage-time header, however, that thrusted the match to new heights and secured their place in the semi-finals. It may not have led to Europa League glory in the long run but remains one of the club’s most successful comebacks in recent years and a performance that is unlikely to ever be forgotten by fans and players alike.

In recent years, Liverpool has solidified its position as one of the world’s greatest football clubs. This is largely due to a number of high-profile matches against rivals as well as worthy competitors that showcased their expert goal-scoring ability and worthiness of a spot in the global football sporting hall of fame.
