Liverpool player ratings from 2-0 win over Manchester United
Alisson Becker 8
Held one from Pereira first half and busier second half, particularly when palming one out from Fred. Brilliant assist for Salah's goal in injury time.
Trent Alexander-Arnold 7
Excellent delivery for the opener and couple of other dead-balls caused United consternation first half. Defensively solid.
Joe Gomez 7
Stepped out when required and coped well with Martial before break. Similarly impressive second half as United belatedly threatened.
Virgil van Dijk 8
Too strong for Maguire for the opener and similarly impressive at the back, particularly in his use of possession. Got his head on to so many high balls in the final quarter.
Andy Robertson 7
Didn't have it easy against James but made one good tackle on the speedy winger early on. So often the out ball on the left.
Jordan Henderson 8
Helped Liverpool dominate the midfield battle before break and was first to so many loose balls. Had excellent shot turned on to post by De Gea.
Gini Wijnaldum 9
Superb energy levels and popped up all over the place going forward and when regularly nicking possession off United toes. A truly outstanding display.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 7
Impressive when United caused a few early problems, and continued his level first half. Took a nasty knock from Williams and was replaced shortly afterwards.
Mohamed Salah 7
Not given much protection from Shaw's manhandling until the United man was finally booked late on. Tracked back when needed but missed massive chance at start of second half before at last getting his goal against United.
Roberto Firmino 8
Unfortunate to have goal chalked off for earlier Van Dijk foul first half and wide with another good chance. Footwork far too much for Maguire to cope with. Deserved ovation on his substitution.
Sadio Mane 8
Terrorised Wan-Bissaka and denied a deserved first-half goal only by the legs of De Gea. Wide with a decent opening after the break. Subbed.
Adam Lallana (for Oxlade-Chamberlain 66) 6
Midfield energy and some no-nonsense clearances.
Fabinho (for Mane 83)
Welcome return for the Brazilian.
Divock Origi (for Firmino 83)
Another win bonus.
