Mohamed Salah and Joe Gomez struggle as Dejan Lovren leads fightback

A goal from Dejan Lovren cancelled out Dries Mertens opener as Liverpool earned a Champions League draw with Napoli

Alisson Becker 6
Not much chance with the opener from Mertens. Green tights for the Brazilian this time.

Joe Gomez 5
Solid enough defensively first half but not able to bring much going forward, which became a glaring issue shortly after the interval before being replaced.

Dejan Lovren 7
Good block from Mertens early on and won his battle first half with Lozano. Thumped in a towering header for the equaliser.

Virgil van Dijk 6
Injured when clashing with Mertens in the build-up to the opener. Some good defensive headers and became a threat from set-pieces in the second half.

Andy Robertson 6
Attempted to get Liverpool going down the left but his distribution wasn't always on point before break. More threat afterwards when going forward.

Fabinho 6
Took a sore one when caught by the falling Lozano and soon departed after treatment to his left ankle.

James Milner 7
Almost fashioned a chance when linking with Mane inside the area and later saw shot saved by Meret. Often dropped into left-back role with Robertson more advanced, and put in corner for equaliser. Subbed.

Jordan Henderson 6
One good cross deserved greater reward and sought to provide some energy in opening 45 minutes. Did a job when shifting to right-back during second half.

Mohamed Salah 5
Left Koulibaly on his backside with one break down the right but at times held on to ball too long or simply lost it. One shot at Meret.

Roberto Firmino 7
Started brightly with hungry pressing and link play. Dropped deeper as first half progressed, but more prominent up top second half and put one header wide.

Sadio Mane 6
Saw a fair amount of the ball before the break but let down by some uncharacteristic poor control. Good combination with Firmino almost led to chance. Improved mildly after break.

Gini Wijnaldum (for Fabinho 19) 7
Straight into the thick of it as ostensibly the holding midfielder. Caught the eye with some surging runs.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (for Gomez 58) 7
Instantly added some bite to the Liverpool attack with his direct running and crossing.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (for Milner 78)
Couldn't find the telling delivery during his late cameo.

I suspect Mohammed Salah may be having some family issues that are affecting his style of play. This is not the Salah that we have known for the first two seasons. He is now too slow, too weak on the ball, with too much faulty passes and his final shots at goal are powerless. He is better when he becomes a little bit selfish, but all these qualities seem to have suddenly been lost. I know footballers sometimes have bad seasons, but with Salah I believe he is not out of form, but something is certainly having a toll on his performance. I think Klopp and the team's psychologist should find out if he has some genuine family issues bothering him. I may be wrong but that is how I feel.

May be tempting providence here, but our beloved 'Number 9' (pass it to bobby and he'll score) ..... Well that's the problem, Bobby just ain't scoring anything like enough! The great Rushie was a number 9 too at look at the number of goals he scored - no comparison whatsoever. Yes, bobby does a lot of assists and support play, but that isn't always enough to win you games. Salah isn't pulling his weight either.

Maybe I am getting in trouble here, but...

Love Firmino and Salah, but you can't say they feel a threat. Work ethic is still great, but forwards are suppose to score! Whenever they get a chance you have a feeling they will miss, and they do. Confidence totally gone gone. F had a great chance to put a header away, at least make the goalkeeper work, but no. Lovren did what he could not.

Salah had a great opportunity with his left foot, not a lot of pressure, but awful finish really. Again.

From the start of the season up till now, they have not been good enough. That's how I see it.

All season there has only been one forward delivering a threat consistently, and that's Mane. You always have the feeling he will score getting a chance.

Honestly, I think the front three as we know and love are done. Have been for six month or so. We need attacking injection, putting Firmihno and Salah on the bench.

Anyway, we are never going to last the distance in the Premier League unless something start to happen up front.

Liverpool will go through to all you negative people Liverpool will win in Salzburg that is my view. Because I believe in Klopp and his squad. Klopp. Is the only manager who says he makes mistakes, so have more faith in Klopp. Role on Brighton on Saturday. YNWA

Lovren an Robbo ref watching an Mo had prob worst game in red shirt. Fabino was a bad blow. BUT team reacted well and played like expected on a bad night. I thought we deserved a win form all hard work done. Not a typical Anfield night so fans hold your hands up. I think we didnt get the rub of the green but hold your heads up YNWA
Mind you ref was an ar****le
