Liverpool Echo ratings vs Newcastle
ALISSON BECKER 7 - Good handling on more than one occasion, and a big punch under pressure late on.
TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD 7 - Delivery produced two goals. He was caught out for Newcastle's first equaliser, in which he handled on the line. Atsu and Ritchie kept him very busy.
ANDY ROBERTSON 7 - Non-stop running, didn't find the final ball although that wasn't always his fault.
VIRGIL VAN DIJK 7 - Bullet header to open the scoring. Never a good idea to leave him unmarked. Ruffled by Rondon, and had to dig in and do the ugly stuff second half.
DEJAN LOVREN 6 - Also worried by Rondon, and made some dubious clearances. He'll have easier nights.
FABINHO 7 - Strength was needed on more than one occasion. Smart work to win the free kick from which Liverpool won the game.
JORDAN HENDERSON 6 - Started brightly, and got into the box when he could. Liverpool couldn't control the game at 2-2.
GINI WIJNALDUM 6 - Against his former clubs, he had a quiet night. He was replaced by Shaqiri.
MOHAMED SALAH 7 - What a finish for 2-1. He set Mane up for a great chance in the first half. Then departed after a horrendous collision with Dubravka.
SADIO MANE 6 - He has such positivity and energy that he's always a threat. It wasn't his night in front of goal.
DANIEL STURRIDGE 6 - Some glorious passes in the first half, but his finishing was awry. And when that happens, his currency is very weak.
SUBS
XHERDAN SHAQIRI 7 - Delivered when his team needed him. Great to see.
DIVOCK ORIGI 7 - Was there where he needed to be to force the winner. Otherwise didn't do much. He won't care.
JAMES MILNER 10 - For that foul at the end.
