Liverpool went top of the Premier League on Sunday afternoon after a 0-0 with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Reds have still lost just once this season in the league, but the afternoon was a frustrating one for Jurgen Klopp's men after a trio of Manchester United injuries in the first half clearly took their toll on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men.

Here are Ian Doyle's player ratings from Old Trafford, with good marks for the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho..

Alisson Becker 8
Passed the ball out from the back a couple of times, and showed brilliant anticipation in the first half to keep out an incoming Lingard. A fine, fine save.

James Milner 5
Always eager to assist the attack although his deliveries were far too often found wanting. Sailed close to the wind after a daft first-half booking for a foul on Pogba.

Joel Matip 7
Possessed by Messi with one forward run that won a free-kick in the first half. Defended admirably and wasn't massively bothered by Lukaku.

Virgil van Dijk 8
Headed away a goalbound Pogba shot and got his bonce on several dangerous United corners. Never ruffled.

Andy Robertson 6
Got in behind down the left on one occasion but this was primarily been a defensive effort. Caught out of position once. Looked a bit tired, to be honest.

Fabinho 7
Enjoyed a lot of the ball early on and pinged it about with accuracy. Then turned destroyer as the game became far too bitty. Did his bit after the break.

Jordan Henderson 6
Worked hard on the right of the midfield three, not least in helping negate Pogba. Not much creativity, though, and that prompted his substitution.

Gini Wijnaldum 7
One turn left Herrera in his wake and got through some yards with his close control so beneficial in a congested midfield. Another decent outing. Booked.

Mohamed Salah 4
Been put into a couple of good positions but this hasn't wasn't his day at all. Appeared to have lead in his boots. Poor free-kick, too. Put out of his misery before the end.

Roberto Firmino 6
Almost capitalised in the opening seconds after hesitation in the United defence, but later had to admit defeat to injury after twisting his ankle.

Sadio Mane 5
Able to run at Young on occasion but could do with a bit more movement from team-mates. Frustrating when in possession.

Daniel Sturridge (for Firmino 31) 5
First touch was an attempted shot from seemingly as far out as Anfield. It didn't go in – but was Liverpool 's only shot on target.

Xherdan Shaqiri (for Henderson 72) 5
On the right, no suggestion of a repeat of his Anfield heroics of December. Booked.

Divock Origi (for Salah 79)
One nice run.
