Liverpool stroll past FC Haka
Robbie Fowler and Jamie Redknapp marked their return to the Liverpool starting line-up by scoring against FC Haka in the Anfield side's Champions League qualifying victory.
Fowler put the home side ahead only to see a Djimi Traore error gift Peter Kovacs a surprise equaliser for the Finnish champions.
But Redknapp and Emile Heskey each scored after the interval before David Wilson's own goal for the visitors completed the formality of a Liverpool win.
Manager Gerard Houllier's side now enter the lucrative group stages of the Champions League.
Houllier made eight changes from their last outing against West Ham and Liverpool were at odds with themselves in the first-half.
FC Haka were playing with five in midfield and, despite holding their own early on, the visitors went behind to Fowler's opener.
Fowler was back in the side after ending his much-publicised feud with assistant manager Phil Thompson and he extended Liverpool's first leg 5-0 lead after 37 minutes.
An error in central defence by Traore - with his header wrong-footing Liverpool goalkeeper Pegguy Arphexad - allowed Kovacs to pull the Finns level in front of the Kop end.
The visitors received generous applause before Liverpool found some form after the interval when the home side stamped their authority on the game.
Redknapp, making his first senior start since May 2000 against Bradford, added a second for Houllier's side after 50 minutes.
The midfielder benefited from some good work by Fowler before a cut-back from Bernard Diomede allowed him the chance to power a shot into the Haka net.
Redknapp's corner led to the first goal and his through ball led to Heskey adding a third for Liverpool.
Liverpool were comfortably dominating and Anfield boss Houllier took the opportunity to give Steven Gerrard a run out before Friday's Super Cup clash against Bayern Munich.
Former Manchester United trainee Wilson's own goal from a Nick Barmby free-kick made sure of Liverpool's stroll to the next stage of the competition.
