LIVERPOOL FC was today investigating how pictures of John Arne Riise’s pay slip appeared on the internet.
The official slip listing the player’s monthly salary, address and other confidential information is believed to have been stolen.
Now it has surfaced in an email being forwarded to offices across the city.
Liverpool FC today said they were taking the matter “very seriously” and are investigating how the pay slip was stolen.
The email contains two att-ached photographs, one showing a man’s hand holding the front of the pay slip, and the other the opened document.
It contains the Norwegian defender’s monthly salary, appearance bonus, points bonus, Champions League salary increase, and charges made for complimentary meals and tickets.
It also has his national insurance number along with tax deduction.
The images appear to have been taken in April and relate to his pay for September last year.
One football fan who saw them said: “It’s the sort of things fans love. You hear rumours about what the players earn but to see a wage bill is something else.”
Riise, who earns around £2.5m a year at Anfield, became Liverpool's first signing during the 2001 summer break, when he moved from Monaco in a £4m transfer deal.
He missed a penalty in the 2005 European Cup final against AC Milan in Istanbul’s Ataturk stadium.
Sources close to the star said the player was convinced the pay slip was stolen.
A police spokesman said: “As far as we are aware no complaints have been made so far.”
Liverpool stars Pepe Reina, Peter Crouch, Jerzy Dudek and Daniel Agger have all been victims of burglary at their homes, but there is no suggestion there have been any break-ins at Riise’s home.

Nope - it's month ending week 24, and the total to date divided by the 6 months it is into the year will show you this is a monthly figure.
I would have expected him to be paid more, to be honest.
2 points
a. £55k tax in a month. Ouch
b. 120k a month basic isn't actually that much (27.5k a week) in comparison to many footballers on 70, 80k a week, and some up to 120k a week.
Further, week 24 in that year was, as noted in the payslip, the month ending Saturday 1st September 2006.
Our results in the month that payslip is for, our results in competitive games were...
09 Aug, 2006 Maccabi Haifa Champions League Qualifier (3) H 20:05 2-1
13 Aug, 2006 Chelsea FA Community Shield A 15:00 2-1
19 Aug, 2006 Sheffield United Barclays Premier League A 12:45 1-1
22 Aug, 2006 Maccabi Haifa Champions League Qualifier (3) A 19:35 1-1
26 Aug, 2006 West Ham United Barclays Premier League H 12:45 2-1
So the 15k Ch Lg Sal Incr is the bonus for qualifying for the CL. Fair enough.
The points bonus must, therefore apply for the Premier League.
£250 for a win and a draw. Maybe £200 win bonus, and £50 for the draw.
