The return match between the above teams took place this afternoon at Anfield, before a good attendance of spectators. The Rangers kicked off, but McQueen soon robbed, and the home team ran up. Robinson intervened and passed to his left wing, who quickly made their way down. Hannah, however, returned, and a pretty combined run by the Liverpool forwards nearly had the desired effect. Wyllie's shot from the wing just going over the bar. After the visitors goal had an escape from the home right, a foul fell to Liverpool, in a good position, but without result.
Liverpool kept up the pressure and at last their efforts were rewarded. McVean scoring with a splendid low shot. A minute later the Rangers' goalkeeper had to save from a fine shot by McVean, but almost immediately afterwards Champan was defeated by Miller, thus making the second point for Liverpool. After some pressure the Rangers' forwards broke away with a finely concerted run, a foul against Liverpool giving further advantage. McLean, however, cleared, and the homesters were soon round Chapman again, who had some hot shots to negotiate.
The visitors made several attempts to break away, but were never dangerous, and play was mostly confined to their quarters. The Rangers at length managed to get to the home goal, and had two chances of scoring, but Ross cleared on both occasion. Liverpool after this had all the play, and Miller again scored, the total at half-time being - Liverpool, 4 goals; Rangers nil.
