Lawler's header earns Liverpool point
Liverpool forced it from the outset and Osborne saved comfortably from St John before Talbut nipped across to intercept an attempted header by Yeats.
Relief from the constant Liverpool pressure came near the interval with a sharp Albion burst on the left and when Hope made a lofted shot Lawrence had advanced a little too far and as he stretched to take the ball it passed over him and Wall cleared from underneath the bar.
Liverpool had often suggested they would expose themselves, by their weight of pressure leaving room at the back. The expected Albion break came in the 66th minute when Fraser slipped the ball to Hope and the little Scot pin-pointed a through-pass for the quick moving Brown to score.
Liverpool drew level in 70 minutes, Lawler heading in.
