Liverpool outplayed Cardiff

Liverpool dealt the final blow to Cardiff’s hopes of avoiding relegation when at Ninian Park last evening they defeated the Welsh club by the odd goal of three.

Although Liverpool’s winning goal came as a result of a penalty, the visitors were good value for their win. They played the more convincing football, their forwards being better together and their defence sounder.

The home defenders were weak under pressure and kicked wildly; Blackburn and Roberts were the only exceptions. Their fine work prevented Cardiff’s defeat from being turned into a rout.

Liverpool opened the score in five minutes, Race going through to beat Farquharson for possession. Cardiff equalised in the second half, when Wake headed in from Warren’s centre, and the winning goal came 15 minutes from the end. Sloan fouled Race and from the penalty spot Done easily scored.
