- Mercury's report, which is here attached, could lead to misunderstanding that Becton scored both of Liverpool's goals. The Daily Post and Echo both say Ross: "Becton, at the right moment, passed to Ross who shot a magnificent goal and thus equalised almost as the referee’s whistle went." The Courier says "At last there was a most beautiful run down by Becton and Hannah and an opportune pass by the latter enabled Ross to score the equalising goal."
- This match was scheduled to be played on Saturday 16th March 1895 but had to be postponed because The Wednesday were playing in an FA Cup semi-final on that date (against West Bromwich Albion at Derby's Racecourse Ground).
