Maguire joined Liverpool's Academy in 2005 at under nine level. The left-sided defender progressed through the ranks and spent a month on loan at Leyton Orient at the beginning of 2015/16, where his only appearance was in the Football League Trophy.
With Liverpool's squad depleted by injuries, Maguire was on the bench for the third round FA Cup tie at Exeter City on 8 January 2016, coming on as a 77th-minute substitute for the injured Tiago Ilori before returning to his familiar role in the under 21's for the rest of the season. After failing to make any further breakthrough the following season, he joined Fleetwood Town on 13 January 2017 on a two-and-a-half-year deal but made just twelve appearances in eighteen months. After making just one League Cup appearance in the first month of 2018/19 he was loaned to League Two Crawley Town for the rest of the season, making thirty appearances and scoring once, before being released by Fleetwood on the expiration of his contract.
Maguire spent 2019/20 with Accrington Stanley in League One, making eleven appearances in the League One and he was granted a contract extension keeping him there for 2020/21. However he failed to progress and made just five appearances before joining Tranmere Rovers on a free transfer in July 2021. He endured a difficult season there, playing just two minutes of league football as a substitute and starting four games in cup competitions. On his release at the end of the season he posted an emotional message on Instagram about his mental health, saying "On a personal note this has been one of my most challenging and difficult seasons so far, physically and mentally. I have endured many set backs that have really took it’s toll on me ultimately effecting my mental health and personal life triggering constant negative internal thoughts. I finally decided to seek help and use therapy, I have been much more comfortable being open with my family and the closest people around me as well as understanding why I feel certain ways in different situations."
In an interview with The Athletic in October 2023, Maguire confirmed he had retired from football, been backpacking and started his own business.
