Born in Austria to Hungarian parents, Armin Pecsi began playing football at an early age before moving across the border to join Puskas Akademia’s youth system in Hungary. The club, based in Felcsút, has developed a strong reputation for nurturing technically accomplished players, and Pecsi quickly became one of its standout young goalkeepers. Displaying composure and excellent reflexes, Pesci progressed rapidly through the youth ranks. His performances at U17 and U19 level earned him international call-ups with Hungary’s youth sides, and he began training with Puskas Akademia’s senior squad while still a teenager.

Pecsi made his Nemzeti Bajnokság I (Hungarian top-flight) debut for Puskas Akademia at just 18 years old. By the 2023/24 season, he had become the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, featuring regularly in league and cup matches. Known for his shot-stopping ability and strong aerial command, he was key in helping Puskas Akademia secure a top-two finish in the Hungarian league and qualification for European competition in 2024/25. His consistent form - which included double-digit clean sheets across all competitions - saw him recognised as one of the most promising young players in Central Europe. He was nominated for the 2025 Golden Boy Award, a rare honour for a goalkeeper and confirmation of his growing reputation.

Liverpool finalised the signing of Ármin Pécsi in June 2025, completing what was reported as the biggest outgoing transfer in Puskas Akademia’s history. He signed a long-term contract with the Reds and was immediately integrated into the club’s goalkeeping setup at Kirkby. Pecsi is a tall, commanding presence in goal, equally confident claiming crosses as he is saving shots from distance, and his communication with defenders is often cited as one of his standout traits.
