Leaving of Liverpool? No chance
Let me tell you this straight: I have NOT asked Liverpool for a transfer - and nor am I likely to. So you can understand my astonishment when I woke up on Sunday morning and picked up the Sunday Mirror to read that I had told my club that unless they played me I was off!
I want to stress here and now that that's total and utter rubbish.
A fella called Bill Mills wrote the story. Who the hell is Bill Mills? Does he exist? I've never heard of him and I can promise you I've never spoken to him.
He obviously thinks I have, though, because he quoted me in the article. I wonder where he got that from because I don't remember saying anything - especially to him.
I fully admit I want first team football, and I can't think of a player who doesn't. But to say I was considering handing in a transfer request is a blatant untruth.
I want the fans to know that because people have already been coming up to me and asking: "Is it true?" It's upsetting that people can write this garbage about you.
Look at it sensibly. Of course, you would expect me not to be happy about not being in the first team, and I'm not. I don't think the gaffer would want me any different to that."
But do I seem like the kind of person who would make demands like that on Liverpool? Well, I'm not. Why would I want to go anywhere else? Besides, if I've got a problem I wouldn't go to the Press. I don't think that's the way to do things.
The gaffer has been tremendous to me. I've spoken to him about the situation and I know what the situation is. The team is winning and doing OK and it's hard for him to change it. I've just got to be patient, work hard and train on my days off so I'll be ready to take my chance when it comes. Have you got all that, Bill?
