Premier League

Anfield | Sunday 19 August 2007 at 16:00 UK local time

Liverpool 1 - 1 Chelsea
Half time 1–0

Notes

  • - Fernando Torres scores his first LFC goal
  • - Peter Crouch's 100th game for Liverpool.
    - Rob Styles later apologised for the penalty he awarded to Chelsea: "Yesterday, in mistakenly awarding a penalty, I accept that I may have affected the result of the match and for that I apologise."
    - Spanish journalist Gulliem Balague: "It was just a shame for Fernando that Rob Styles took away some of his limelight. I wrote in my local Spanish paper that it was like watching a La Liga match, because you had 100 fouls, a penalty that wasn't, a referee who had a bad match and a Spanish striker scoring. You also had the whole of Anfield protesting against the referee and it was just like a Spanish match really."
