Player Profile
Born in Nules in the Valencian region of Spain in 1997, Canos was signed by the Reds in 2013 after being released by Barcelona's academy. An attacking midfielder who can also operate on either wing, he spent his first season with the under 18's before moving up to the under 21's for 2014/15. That season he played in all six games of the UEFA Youth League and in August 2015 was loaned to Championship side Brentford, initially for the first half of the season. That loan was extended in January 2016 and by the end of the season he had scored seven goals in 38 league appearances. With the Premiership season ending a week after that of the Football League, Canos was included in Liverpool's matchday squad for the final game of 2015-16 at West Bromwich Albion. He came off the bench with ten minutes remaining of the 1-1 draw, describing the experience afterwards as 'the best ten minutes of my life.' Canos was signed by Norwich City on 13 July 2016 for £2.5m, rising to £4.5m. The move didn't work out however and in January 2017 he was transferred from there to Brentford where his performances led to an enquiry from Belgian giants Anderlecht in July 2019.
Canos remined at Brentford for 2019/20, although a serious knee injury sustained in October looked to have ended his season. The delay caused by Covid 19 meant he was able to return and make four substitute appearances when the season resumed behind closed doors, including the play-off final which Brentford lost to West London rivals Fulham. The following season Canos featured in every league game as Brentford were promoted via the play offs. In their first top flight game for 74 years, he scored the opening goal in a memorable 2-0 victory over Arsenal on 13th August 2021 He finished the season with 31 appearances but in 2022/23 competition was much stronger as Brentford challenged for a European place. After just five Premier League appearances, all as a substitute, he spent the second half of the season on loan at Greek giants Olympiacos, scoring four goals in eight games. In August 2023 he returned to his homeland, joining Valencia, scoring once in his first season in which they finished ninth. During 2024/25, he made 22 La Liga appearances of which 17 were as a substitute and underwent surgery for a hernia at the end of the season. He recovered for the pre season but was told by coach Carolos Corberan prior to a friendly with Marseille that he was not in his plans for the forthcoming campaign.
