Departures Continue For Liverpool But Fans Eagerly Look To Arrivals

With the known departure of successful gaffer Jurgen Klopp at the end of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign, everyone in the wider world of football knew that it would be a big summer for the club as the board allowed new manager Arne Slot to freshen up the squad in a way that suited him, and fans obviously had some concerns about the futures of some high profile players as they looked to be edging towards an exit.

With some feared key departures yet to firmly be on the cards, business has largely been slow - although that is not to say that we do not feature incredibly heavily on the transfer window rumour mill - and arrivals should be expected sooner rather than later, as we are now starting to see more departures as the 45 year old shapes his squad over pre season to take us into the future.

And whilst there a large number of online pokies where fans can go and see the latest casino games, many football experts will be pouring over potential late transfer moves online before the deadline day window slams shut, and for those who like a small flutter, there are bound to be a variety of odds on offer that might be of interest to you.

One of those departures is 18 year old forward, Lewis Koumas, the son of former Welsh international Jason. He heads out to continue his development and will spend the season with Championship side Stoke City on a loan spell. Having come through our youth Academy, he made his senior debut for us back in the FA Cup clash with Southampton in February 2024, where he returned his maiden professional goal. He also made his senior international debut for Wales in this summer's friendly clashes with Gibraltar and Slovakia.

He was ineligible to make his debut for them this weekend in their game against Coventry City due to the timing of the deal being formalised by the authorities. But it will be worth keeping an eye on him to see how he does in the second tier, as he hopefully gets a really good run of games under his belt.

Another player set to move on following the business that we have done this weekend will be fellow young forward, Fabio Carvalho. The 21 year old Portuguese Under 21 international made the move to Anfield for a reported £5 million from Fulham back in the summer of 2022, and he has featured eight times as a starter, with 13 more substitute showings, scoring three times.

He spent the first half of the 2023/24 campaign out on loan with German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, but it was a poor spell and having been recalled in January, he then switched to Hull City where he scored nine times in 20 starting appearances.

Although there was strong interest from Southampton, they would not meet our valuation on the player, and it seems that we have now struck a deal said to be worth £27.5 million (including add ons) with Brentford. This is also includes a 17.5% sell on clause as we look to offset the profit clause of around 20% negotiated with Fulham.

It is not a great surprise to see him move on given where he is in our pecking order, and it is a good fee for his continued potential, but some fans may well raise an eyebrow as he has been involved in pre season, and he scored in games against Arsenal and Manchester United during our tour of the United States.

There are likely to be more departures in the next few weeks, but we will have to simply see what speculation proves to be true on an incoming front as we continue to be linked with the likes of Anthony Gordon and Martin Zubimendi - and they are far from the only players whose names continue to appear in the press headlines.
