Notes

  • “Kevin Keegan is the best reason for believing that this strange season may yet end in League championship glory for Bob Paisley’s Liverpool. At his best Keegan is a worldclass player. At his worst, he disappears from a game for long periods and every trick he tries seems doomed to failure. And this season has not exactly been one of Keegan’s best – at least until Saturday’s Saturday’s 5-2 thrashing of championship rivals Ipswich at Anfield. Because in this game, Keegan was at his impish best and if he continues in this kind of form, there is little doubt that Liverpool will again become firm favourites for the title. He laid on the first goal for Brian Hall, linked with John Toshack for the second and put the shaky Ipswich defence into a state of chaos to provide Peter Cormack with the opening for the fifth. But more important still, his confidence appeared to be fully restored. The cheeky flicks and dangerous runs were there again and the reluctance to shoot also disappeared.” (Liverpool Echo: February 10, 1975).
