Notes

  • THE MATCH OF THE ROUND

Ted Sagar, Everton's keeper, in 1955 on the winning goal by Hodgson: "It was just before time and I went out to deal with a centre when up popped the tall South African to get there a fraction of a second before me and Liverpool were in the next round."

    - The referee was WP Harper from Stourbridge, not FP Harper (a misspelling).
