- Many sources show Alex Raisbeck as the scorer of Liverpool's first goal. But a report from the time suggests otherwise : "From the free-kick which Raisbeck took, the ball went in the centre of the goal. Balmer, in attempting to head away, sent the ball in the wrong direction, the result being that Kitchen was unsighted, and the ball rolled into the net".
