Player Profile
Harry Storer had started the 1898/99 season between the sticks at Liverpool and played in the first 32 fixtures before being replaced by Matt McQueen for the next two. Perkins' introduction into the side effectively ended McQueen's playing days. Perkins started the next season but after eight successive defeats, he was replaced by Storer in mid-October. Perkins returned at the end of the year and became established as the side’s main 'keeper until the 1902/03 season when he shared duties with Peter Platt. But after Platt was selected for a home game with Sunderland on 30 March 1903, William Henry Perkins disappeared out of the scene for good after 117 first-team appearances in the League and Cup. But he did have the satisfaction of winning a League Championship medal in 1901 when he was an ever-present in the team.
