Notes

  • - Steven Gerrard's fifth Liverpool hat-trick comes on his 400th Premier League appearance for the club.
    - The first time Liverpool have started a Premier League match with Suarez, Gerrard and Carroll – the trio had appeared in only five League games at the same time, totalling 98 minutes. Suarez had two assists in this game.
    - Asked to summarise Gerrard's performance, Dalglish said: "I am not educated enough to add to whatever anyone else has said about Steven. He's been fantastic for this football club. I left school at 15, my vocabulary is not that great. There is no way I could extol the virtues of Steven Gerrard and do him justice. Three goals tonight was fantastic reward for him, and the other three local lads we had didn't do too badly either." Quizzed on whether Gerrard was struggling with a knock as the sides left the pitch for half-time, Dalglish replied: "I'd hate to see him when he's flying."
