- There seems to be some confusion about the scorer of Derby's second goal in the 33rd minute. The Sheffield Telegraph credited the goal to Steve Bloomer but both the Yorkshire Post and the Derby Telegraph gave it to William Hodgkinson. The description of the goal in a different newspaper, however, leaves little doubt that the goal was scored by George Richards.
