Notes

  • - Andy McGuigan becomes the first Liverpool player to score five Football League goals in one game. Maybe it was no wonder Liverpool won by such a clear margin as Stoke's players were ill before and during the game and afterwards as they had eaten bad fish. Player after player had to leave the field and throw up and at one time Stoke had but seven men on the field.
