Notes

  • - "I was on the Kop for that match and it was the first time that You'll Never Walk Alone was played. I'm sure that you will be aware that they used to play pop records before the game and at halftime, especially those by the local groups and the crowd used to join in. Gerry's record was released just before that game and I recall the laughter when he couldn't hold the high note. It was probably the first time that a lot had heard it but we were all singing along. It stayed at the top of the charts for several weeks and was played regularly at Anfield after." (A note to LFChistory.net from Kopite Stuart Sprigings).
    - You'll Never Walk Alone was rising rapidly in the charts at the time, entering the Top Ten at No. 5 on 24 October 1963 before reaching No. 1 a week later on 31 October.
