2nd Division

Anfield | Saturday 21 April 1962 at 15:00 UK local time

Liverpool 2 - 0 Southampton
Half time 2–0

Notes

  • - Liverpool's eight-year exile from the top flight came to an end. Promotion was won on a damp afternoon at Anfield. Ronnie Moran has fond memories of the game: "Kevin [Lewis] was only playing because Ian St John wasn't available but he scored the goals that took us up. I was particularly proud because I'd played a lot of games for the club in Division Two and we'd tried so hard for so long to get into the top league."
