    The match-report in The Glasgow Herald mentions that Liverpool goalkeeper Matt McQueen received a bad injury midway through the first half and had to leave the field of play. He was able to resume after a few minutes of treatment. His injury was caused by what was described as a 'rough charge'. Malcolm McVean went in goal while McQueen was receiving treatment.

    The referee sent off Celtic player Tommy Morrison for dissent in the second half.
