Player Profile

A forward who made seven first division appearances for Liverpool in the two seasons before World War I. McDougall also played once in the FA Cup, in the second round victory at Gillingham, as the club progressed towards their first major final, in 1914. McDougall was one of 27 different players used during the 1913/14 season and all but one of his League appearances came in the second part of that season. He was on the scoresheet just once and that was the only goal of the game on his debut at West Bromwich Albion on 24 January 1914. McDougall was in disappointing form for Liverpool in the following season as noted in the 3 October 1914 issue of the club programme: "McDougall was tried at centre-forward, but he was not a success; the young Scot has not got off the mark this season yet, and even in the reserve team has failed to fulfil expectations."
