Player Profile
A goalkeeper, who hailed from a junior club at Garston, who represented Liverpool just once. Bill Perkins was well-established as Liverpool's main 'keeper and missed only one first division fixture in the 1901/02 season after being an ever-present the previous year. The only match Perkins missed was a sad 'one and only' for Marshall, as Liverpool were thrashed 4-0 by their neighbours at Goodison Park on 11 January 1902. The Liverpool Mercury criticized Marshall's positioning but was sympathetic towards the custodian, who had joined the club the previous month, to be thrown into the lion's den in his first outing as a Merseyside derby led to the "highest degree of tension" in players.
