Player profile

Hughes was captain of second division Bootle that dropped out of the League because of financial difficulties and left a place filled by Liverpool. He made just a single appearance for Liverpool's first team when he played as left-half in a 4-0 win against Northwich Victoria on 3 February 1894. This victory was one of 22 during the League season, the other six matches were drawn, as the club won the Second Division with ease at the first time of asking.
