An inside-left who figured briefly during the first two seasons of Liverpool's Football League existence. Givens made a scoring debut at Lincoln City on 17 March 1894, netting a second-half equaliser to earn the Reds a point from a 1-1 draw. He scored three times in the five second division matches he played in towards the end of that 1893/94 season but failed to add to his total during the five first division fixtures he was selected for in 1894/95.
