Player Profile

Brough started out as an amateur with Burslem Port Vale in 1906, but left for Stoke when financial difficulties stopped the club right in its tracks. He rejoined the new Vale, which had dropped Burslem from its name in 1907 and netted a club record 43 goals in the 1909/10 season. Brough moved to Liverpool the following season and made 11 appearances as a forward during 1910/11 and scored three goals. It came hardly as a surprise when he moved to Bristol City in January 1912 as he had featured only for Liverpool's reserves in the past 12 months. After a couple of years with City he rejoined Port Vale in the Central league and scored 35 goals in the 1913/14 season. He featured for Port Vale following World War II and made 58 second division appearances, scoring five goals.
