Player Profile

Liverpool-born forward Russell had been an apprentice at Anfield before signing professional forms for the club in April 1978. But he only made one brief appearance for the first team, coming on for winger Howard Gayle in the end-of-season Anfield fixture with Sunderland on 2 May 1981 at a time when Bob Paisley had many injury worries to his first-choice players ahead of the European Cup final with Real Madrid in Paris.
