Player Profile
Durnin scored on a regular basis for the reserves, 62 goals in 90 Central League matches from 1986-1989, but wasn't considered good enough for the first team. Ian Rush, John Aldridge, Paul Walsh and Peter Beardsley stood firmly in his way. Durnin made his first-team debut against Fulham in the second round of the League Cup on 7 October 1986 but had to wait 11 months for his second appearance against Arsenal in the Centenary semi-final. He came on as a substitute at West Ham two months later which turned out to be his final appearance for Reds' first team. After he left Liverpool he played for a variety of lower-league clubs and the majority of his career was spent at Oxford and Portsmouth where he scored 76 goals in 342 League matches from 1989-1999. Durnin missed the first month of the 1999/00 campaign with Pompey after dislocating his elbow when he drove a golf buggy into a fairway hollow! He went on to play for Kidderminster, Rhyl, Port Vale and Accrington Stanley and is now a regular member of Liverpool Masters team and media pundit.
