Player Profile

Outstanding performances for Leicester at Filbert Street and at Anfield against Liverpool in the 1999/00 season ignited Houllier's interest in the 'keeper. Arphexad's heroics against Arsenal in the fourth round of the FA Cup in January 2000, when he saved two penalties in the shoot-out, got him great recognition as well. When Arphexad was available on a Bosman the following summer Houllier brought him to Merseyside as cover for Westerveld. When the Dutchman left in acrimonious circumstances it was believed that Arphexad would soon follow suit but he saw out his contract playing the odd reserve game. Arphexad won several medals during his spell with Liverpool but he was mostly an unused substitute. He did play his part in the club's success in the League Cup in the 2000/01 season as he was between the sticks in the third round against Chelsea and in the fourth round when Stoke were defeated 8-0.

Following his release at the end of his Liverpool contract in 2003, Arphexad spent 2003/04 at Coventry City, but he was also sent out on loan by the Sky Blues to Notts County. During the 2004/05 season he was on the books of Marseille but he failed to play in a single league match for the French south coast club during that brief period, which effectively saw the end of his professional career in which he only made 53 first-team appearances! He returned to his native Guadeloupe and in March 2016, on a visit to Leicester, he was forced to deny internet rumours that he was a porn star. He told the reporter he was now working in sports insurance.
