Born in Zaragoza to Nigerian parents, Wellity Lucky moved to England with his family during childhood and soon caught the eye of Liverpool’s recruitment staff. He had played for Real Zaragoza’s youth team in Spain before joining Liverpool’s Academy ranks as an under-13 player. Progressing steadily through the age groups at Kirkby, Lucky established himself as a composed, right-footed centre-back with an assured touch and strong sense of positioning. Coaches praised his calm distribution and his ability to step out from defence with confidence. He featured for the Under-18s while still eligible for the younger age category and has become a regular in the Under-21 side. His performances earned him a place in Liverpool’s UEFA Youth League squad, where he has gained valuable experience against top European academies.

Lucky has represented England at youth level, though he remains eligible for both Spain and Nigeria. His international background and cultured playing style make him one of the more intriguing prospects in Liverpool’s modern youth setup. Lucky made his first-team debut when he came on for Andy Robertson on 29 October 2025 in a 3-0 defeat against Crystal Palace in the fourth round of the League cup.
