Boyes signed his first professional contract for Liverpool on 30 May 2019. The Welsh U-19 international has been at the academy since U-11 level. Boyes moved to Neil Critchley's U-23 side before the 2019/20 season and was one of several debutants in the Carabao Cup game against Aston Villa on 17 December 2019 while Liverpool's protagonists were otherwise occupied in Qatar featuring in the Club World Cup. Boyes was unlucky to score an own goal via a deflection on his Liverpool debut following in the footsteps of the likes of legend Gerry Byrne in 1957 and goalkeeper Frank Lane in 1972.
