As Elisha Scott entered the home dressing- room at Anfield before one of his 20 derby days between 1915 and 1934, the story goes that he was greeted by a brown paper bag with his name written on it. Inside was a bottle of aspirin with a note attached that read: "I think you might be needing these — yours, Dixie."

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Elisha Scott was honoured in his homeland of Northern Ireland in a special service on 18th July 2009.
The Everton legend, Dixie Dean was Reds' chief tormentor in the 20's and 30's. Elisha Scott was Liverpool's custodian when Dixie was running amok and one of the greatest goalkeepers in Liverpool's history.
Elisha Scott is without a doubt one of the greatest goalkeepers in Liverpool's history. His career spanned an astonishing 22 years from his arrival in September 1912 until he left in June 1934.
Liverpool beat Everton and Sheffield United 5-1.
"I've spoken to Dixie Dean about Elisha Scott and they had this fantastic rivalry in the 1920's. Dixie Dean said he was the best goalkeeper he had ever seen and played against. He also talked about his dreadful language. He was an Ulsterman from Belfast and his swearing was terrible, you could hear it all around the ground. It was no holds barred."
