Player Notes:
Fred was a forward who played for Liverpool in the period leading up to the Second World War. He made his debut on 6th of April 1935 against Derby and figured in 6 of the final 7 First Division fixtures of that season, scoring in successive matches against Aston Villa, Stoke City & Chelsea. He was the club’s leading scorer for the next two seasons with 17 goals from 34 league appearances in 1935-36 and 16 from 40 matches in 1936-37. But he only figured 9 times in 1937-38 and failed to add to his goal tally. Fred also made 5 appearances for Liverpool in the FA cup.

Howe was always a prolific scorer for his teams after he left Liverpool whether he was playing in the 1st (15 goals in 29 league games for Grimsby Town), 2nd (5 goals in 6 league games for Manchester City or 3rd division (20 goals in 30 league games as a 34-year-old for Oldham).
