Player Notes: Cunliffe was a forward who made 14 First Division appearances for Liverpool during the 1897-98 season. He scored 5 times in those matches, including a couple against Stoke at Anfield on 9th October 1897. Numerous changes were made to the club's forward-line during that season and Cunliffe only featured in 3 of the games played during the second-half of the season. He also played in four FA cup ties for Liverpool, scoring the winner in their 2-1 second round replay with Newton Heath in the middle of February 1898.
Daniel Cunliffe is a well-known name in Portsmouth's history. He joined Pompey before their first season, 1899-1900, and seemed to be doing well as he was chosen to represent England vs Ireland in his only international in March 1900. He moved back north for the 1900-1901 season and then returned to Portsmouth where his career flourished. Cunliffe played a total of 284 matches for Portsmouth and scored 157 goals.
